Thinking of doing the TdMB this summer. Has anyone got any route info? I can find a couple of ‘standard’ walking route but I understand there are better routes by bike. Any info in any format appreciated.

At the moment we’re thnking of doing it ‘unsupported’. Last year’s two jaunts were a long weekend in Morzine and a 3day tour of the Cairngorms – I’m kind of thinking this will be a bit like a cross between the two!

How much push/carry was there on that route?

I did it back in 2006 (with 10Fifty who are no longer running unfortunately) and seem to remember that the biking route does not follow the walking route in places. Obv this is the advantage of going on a tour in that they know the best route. How you would find out which bits are best to avoid I don’t know, but they must avoid them for a good reason!!

e.g. From the top of La Forclaz, we took a part off / part on road route down to Le Borgeaud and then the road upto Champex. This is different to the walking route and I’m pretty sure it was not solely down to the fact that we stayed at the top of the Col de la Forclaz on the first night (but cannot guarantee that)

We did it a few years ago, if you take this route, only a small amount of pushing, but you do end up with quite a bit of road. We did TMB Railway to Col du Vosa and Le Tour lift on the first day
