So this may be a bit of a blatant plug, but we just got back from our flowmtb staff day out in Pila and had to big up the guys at Aosta Valley Freeride and Hotel La Chance for a top day out.

Two full top to bottom runs in the day (including a fair bit of climbing) – and we didn’t touch the bike park or the famous Pila -> Aosta track – Been there, done that – wanted something different!

A mix of perfect singletrack (i.e. no peddling, no braking, just pumping occasionally) – ridge line stuff, steep stuff, loose stuff, loamy stuff, rocky stuff etc etc. With the feeling that hardly anyone ever rides it – too busy enjoying the (very good) bike park.

Quality pasta for lunch, quality Pizza for dinner. Then a bit of Grappa in one of the guides cellars before we had to make our way back to Morzine!

And thanks to ‘Bland’ on this forum for the advice on how to find these guys. Hopefully google will do it’s magic and make them a bit easier to find with this post!

The lifts there are open until Sunday 11th Sept, but the guys will be running shuttles around the Aosta valley until mid October – when they’ve got a season ending weekend planned – shuttle runs followed by a big party in the evening, then the option to do some Heli-Biking on the Sunday – October 15/16! We’ll be going.
