So, I have a hole the size of s golf ball in my rear light lense – e47 3 series.

I taped over the lense with clear gaffer to prevent water ingress and further damage. The bulbs are coloured so none of the lights are affected in their task – will it pass the MOT?

Over and above that the lights must work etc etc.

There is a note on repairs at the bottom of the section that says :

    ….
Note: An effective proprietary repair (e.g. lens repair tape etc.) must be assessed on its merits, considering security, colour, light output and durability.

So it’s a matter of “opinion” based on the repair, rather than a Yes or No answer I’m afraid.

Testers discretion on cracked lenses and repairs, not sure what they’d make of a hole though.

    [dammit beaten too it]

My old Volvo estate passed several MOT’s with tape over the front indicator but the hole wasn’t the size of a golf ball in fairness 😯
