i've been numb all week. I've never got the whole celebrity grief thing until now. Sic's passing made my stomach knot when I read it. I missed the race as I was out with friends and I just caught the headlines. Tragic. I think Marco was the only thing that kept the 2011 season interesting. At the start of the season I thought he was a bit of maverick that could only last a few laps. But the last few races, the cameras were on him as he was the one doing the racing. Stoner out in front and Marco mixing it up trying to get a podium. When he eventually got on the podium - his reaction, smiles and warmth you couldn't help but warm to him . l thought he would be one of the challengers in the coming seasons.
Thanks for making the season big fella, you'll be missed and we'll never know for certain what you would've achieved-.Marco 1987-2011 Thanks & RIP

A fitting tribute......
"Next Sunday during the Valencia GP, instead of there being a minute's silence to honour Marco, I would prefer that there was a minute of total chaos with all the engines of the bikes of MotoGP, Moto2 and 125 all on and roaring together," Gazzetto dello Sport quotes Paolo Simoncelli as saying during an interview on television programme Domenica Cinque.

Watching the racing this coming Sunday is going to be so so weird. I've followed GP racing since 1975 when I first started watching Barry Sheene who will always remain my number one hero who I met, sat on his bike and got his autograph and those will be memories I will cherish forever. Marco hadn't achieved those great heights but he was destined to be a great I'm sure of it but his personality stood out miles and miles above anyone else, he was a racer, a fairing basher and an all out good guy on and off the bike. It still doesn't seem real that number 58 won't be on the grid anymore. His loss will be felt for a very very long time but we will never ever forget you Marco, not a chance.

@ Muke, hope they do that, maybe with the mileage expired engines so they can wind them up to 11 (if any are left).
and my Gixer may becoming out in sympathy

The suggestion for "casino" was his dads. I'd also like to see them leave pole free as well for the start, moving everyone down a slot (or two if they moan about a dirty side. Id also like to see his proper 58 bike on the pole slot prior to warm up, his team symbolicaly prepping his bike etc. I don't want much do I.
Marquez is also out barring a miracle so just the 125 title left "open" (as in Terol having to fail to finish). The season ended 2 races ago.

Agreed n the pic Bell. That's the one from one of the "tribute" vids id mentioned before. It's a brilliant piece of photography. If you track down who has the rights let me know as id like to get a big print sorted.
