  • MOT this evening… what will my car fail on?
  • philconsequence

skoda fabia, X reg, 1.9 sdi, 61k on the clock, new tyres last week, bulbs replaced last week, windscreen wipers replaced yesterday and new windscreen fitted after a crack developed last week.

so i’ve already spent a fair amount on it in the past 2 weeks so i’m fully expecting it to fail on something expensive 🙁

skoda fabias from before 2005 have an issue with the power steering sensor so at any point in a journey the power steering can fail but this is fixed by starting the engine again 😆 i’m putting money on the power steering light coming on 30seconds into the MOT test.

long weekend of driving planned so its gotta fail hasn’t it?

One of the new tyres will get an irreperable puncture on the way to the test station.

shouldn’t have started this thread, now i’m adding up the list in my head of things it could fail on! 😯

I was going to go CV boot, but as that’s been taken I’ll go for premature piston ring failure leading to failure of emissions, which won’t be diagnosed until four figures worth of diagnostics.

    Good luck!

just seeing if cynic-Al had been involved in maintenace. Someone up there had posted ‘Al’ as the reason for failure.

Although they’ve changed it now 🙁

A friend of mine wrote his car off with the restaurants worth of cuttlery in the back of his estate. He was waist deep in knifes and forks while the fire brigade were cutting him out 🙂

ohhh headlight alignment could very well be a winning bet

Increase your chances a whole heap by cancelling your MOT and taking it to a ‘just mots’ place. Unless you have already 🙂

P.S Rear numberplate lights usually catch me out. Had a close call with a worn rubber on the brake pedal as well, turned it 180 degrees and it passed with no advisories the next year 🙂

I’ll go for rear handbrake at fill pull and right rear wheel bearing knackered.

I was going to plumb for handbrake adjustment but that has already been taken.
So along the same lines rear brakes binding.

Which charity is the donation to be sent to?

    Another one I suffered,

One head light bulb was ‘multi-coloured’, the other white. Either is fine, but they both have to be the same. You had to stare into the beam to tell the difference!

I am currently winding up my work colleague, his car is in today too.
It’s a game we play to make the days pass quicker – what japes.
He is sitting nervously by his phone , fearing the dreaded call…FAIL.

    O.P. – front suspension boot.

    X reg Fabia 1.4 16v 81k – MOT on Tuesday – passed – advisory for corroded exhaust.

MOT Prep – one number plate bulb , one sidelight bulb. Oil change .

It is a silver car, or was on the previous MOT , now it is grey – must wash it..

I have an R Reg Skoda Felicia 1.9 diesel. It has failed the last two MOTs on CV joint gators, and a top shock mount. Advisory on a perished exhaust mount, and play in the steering rack.

Worn rubber on the brake spooky? My landy has no rubber on any pedals

    Ill take arb bushes

Mine went though recently with an advisory for drift shaft seal on gear box ( it was hosing oil and was just an advisory !!!!!) told them to get it fixed

And an advisory for rear brake imbalance – within tollerance apparently but close to being out. – again get it fixed

Scary thing is – some folk would regard that a pass and get no further work done :/

480 quid all in inclusive with a service and cambelt and waterpump change

Rust only found when tester sticks his screwdriver through a sill or or something. Once got a bit vexed with a tester I knew hitting the chassis on my old Vito with a hammer, hitting it very very hard 😯
