Class weekend in Morzine/Samoens last week, some proper weather, a bit slippery, great ridge descent in almost zero visibility, here are a few photos!

Thoughts on Morzine, the posts here about it having jumped the shark are pretty accurate. I was last there in 1999 and it still had a kind of low key vibe about it, for mountain biking at least. Now it's completely different. The bike shops (with the exception of Torico Morzine which was great) are unfriendly (OK I only sampled two others when I was trying to find someone to sell me a spoke) and many of the riders are a bit yobbish too, frankly. It was just too busy for me I think. Strange that Chamonix is a much bigger town and yet has such a more low-key vibe. Down towards Samoens is great though.

A point on walkers as well: not to be sanctimonious (OK, blatantly to be sanctimonious), but – I saw a lot of riders in Morzine showing them total disrespect, far moreso than in other Alps places…
