Why does my bike look better with a black Thomson seatpost and silver Thomson stem than with both being black?

Maybe if has fancy paintwork with different colours on head and seatube, or if more exotic and a polished headtube with carbon seattube? Not saying it’s impossible, just that clubber’s not wrong.

Thankfully the mismatch helps the eye avoid the bikes overall ascetic.

So, does it matter if the stem/bars/seatpost are all different brands, if they’re the same colour?
