  • Mineral (specifically Shimano) oil – does it degrade over time?

Found I was buying a lot of the smaller bottles (kept faffing and changing calipers etc) so invested in the larger one (bulk is best!) – now finding I’m not using it up nearly as quickly as I used to so have a nearly full bottle of the stuff in the garage.

Question is – is it OK to just sit there or will it degrade in any way if left for any (long) length of time?

    Cheers!

I asked this a while ago – Dot does go bad if opened and unused. Shimano is fine. The bad is to to with taking up water, which is not a feature of mineral oil

Gotcha, cheers for prompt reply. Will leave it there until I feel the need to faff again then!
