Is the stuff from halfords the same as the much more expensive magura stuff.

The next question is ive just found a litre of stihl pre mix mineral oil do u think this would work or do i just need to do the right thing and buy the right oil for my brakes

Well it’s not twostroke oil so i’d take that nowhere near it!

The shimano stuff is much less viscous than the halfords or citoren stuff.

I bought a litre bottle of shimano for about £15 and it’s lasted 10 years. For the sake of a fiver more than ‘something similar’ at least I know it’ll work as intended.

I usually put Citroen LHM in mine. Needed to bleed them when out and about recently so I bought a small pot of cyclo bike specific mineral oil from a local shop, about £10 for a thimble full. They do feel a little lighter when doing a car park squeeze test but I can’t notice any difference when riding. That said when the LHM runs out I’ll probably buy Shimano, as above, in real terms the price difference is tiny.
