I'm thinking that setting up Ubuntu as a dual boot option and running it with that is the way forward. Does that sound about right?

You can't run MM on Linux can you? Just use Boot Camp or Parallels and a Windows install surely?

grumm – apparently you can if you use something called wine. I dont have a windows install that I can use.

I tried using Crossover (another wine based programme) with Tracklogs and it really struggled. I now use vmware with xp and it's much better.

Is there any massive advantage in using MM over sites like bikehike? I had MM installed on a windows partition for a while and it wasn't very intuitive. The 3d view was nice but hardly essential.
