when the maxle on my front wheel is tightened up, it faces forward, is there a way of altering it so that it is inline with the fork leg?

it is all tight and secure, just a bit disconcerting stuck out. I keep thinking I might get something jammed between it and the wheel.

You usually have an adjuster on the opposite fork leg. Although my rear on the Commencal was adjusted with the little allen key hole behind the QR in the centre.

I assume you have the ‘new’ maxle introduced with the Pike, see the video below:

The old ones just spun freely and you could position the lever however you wanted.

new pike. there is no adjuster on the leg, it just screws into the fork.

The youtube video describes the adjustment process pretty accurately, in case you’ve missed it.

You can push the lever side down and rotate it

If you can’t push the lever down, it might be a bit “stuck”. My LBS adjusted it with their special adjusting tool (“soft hammer”) and now it pushes in fine.
