How does it compare to the likes of gore or Castelli. Seem to be quite a few deals about and I’m thinking about replacing my 5year old alpx

I don’t rate Gore anyway as it doesn’t last or work very well.
So, IMHO the two Mavic waterproof jackets I’ve got are great because they are waterproof, have sensible well thought out vents and have lasted for several years.

Only mavic jacket I’ve had was the strangest cut jacket I’ve ever used. Cut for someone with Narrow shoulders, monkey arms and a pot belly.

agree with others on weird sizing but there stuff is great after establishing what size you need.

I have a Mavic winter jacket and lightweight windproof – love them both. I did check sizing and fit in a real life shop though.
I’m a relatively standard-shaped cyclist – narrow shoulders but my arms didn’t come from a monkey and there’s no pot belly either, thankyouverymuch!
FWIW I have a Gore windproof too and the fit is slightly closer than the Mavic but I wouldn’t say they’re massively different at all
