I’m trying to figure out which of the above rims is burlier. Alas there is a complication that the AM1900 isn’t a rim, it’s a complete wheel, and DT Swiss don’t tell you which of their rims they use on it (with a different label stuck on).

    Has anyone got any idea?

Well the M1900 wheel is 19mm internal rim width, and the 521 is 21mm, so the Mavic would take bigger tyres better, and the mavic EN range is pretty tough. The DT wheels are meant for all mountain, so there’s probably not much in it toughness-wise. DT will be lighter and more expensive, Mavic a bit heavier but much cheaper.

Thanks, that’s a good point. Mavic claim their rim is more suitable for enduro, whatever that means, though both them and DT seem to rate enduro as a harsher pursuit then all mountain.

It would be helpful if DTSwiss actually said which rim they used!
