  • Mavic 721 alternatives? (possibly red?)

    Hi all,
    Sorry, I’m sure this has been done to death..  :-\

    Anyway, after today:

    I kinda need a new rear rim (and spokes, and mech) 🙁

    32hole rim.

    They are currently powdercoated 721s. I know I could just get another 721, and get it powdercoated.

    But just wondering what alternatives there are, ideally cheaper, and ideally red (but not essential).

    Weight isn’t a HUGE deal, but dont want anything stupid/overkill (ie 729s), similar to 721s would be good.

    MTX 29s?

    How about Superstar rims, I’ve heard good stuff about thier wheels.
    You can get the DH rim in red, but quite pricey;

    Or the Enduro;

    Quite bit cheaper (especially if I get two), but black, and quite heavy (721s are 590g)

    How about Bonty rims? My old flatmate used to rave about them.

    Spank rims? For some reason not a fan of them as a brand, but no particular reason..

    Any other recommendations? If anyone has any rims they think I might be interested in, please give me a shout 🙂 (32hole remember).

    Cost, as ever, is one of the main concerns  :-\

    Cheers, Duane.
