    Why are these rims a lot cheaper than 717&719 rims all of them are xc rims

    Basic pinned joint construction, rather than welded and machined probably accounts for most of the cost difference.

    Cos they bend.

    717s bend less, 719s even less, but the best for XC (if a little dated now and 100g per rim too heavy) is the 819

    Have broken/bent quite a few of these, Have 819’s now which I have more trouble bending, mind you I think Coatsey built them so that might explain it! the 819s that is.

    I hammer down rocky slabby trails in Spain day in day out with these on my hardtail. Hand built onto hope2s.

    They are also on my fleet bikes with VIAMs and take lots of abuse.

    I love them, no prob’s what so ever.

    Not the most bling-tastic rims but excellent foot soldiers.

    hammered the hell out of them with on bother but i,m only light. 🙂

    never even bent 117 rims or 231s not seen the need for expensive ones
