Friend of my dads, family disgrace, thrown out of his brief stint in the paras that he had after being thrown out of school, had a good time travelling and messing around, got to thirty something, suddenly started an HND, then a degree, set up his own business and then moved onto working for a country estate, all in the space of about 10 years.

Decide what you want to do, talk to some people doing it, find your way in, may not need to have a degree, my chainsaw experience counts far more than my degree for what I do.
