Description
A vehicle has struck a bridge near Strines. Due to the damaged caused to the bridge (which can be seen here) the following changes will apply until further notice:
Some trains between Manchester Piccadilly and New Mills Central will start / terminate at Marple and not call at Strines or New Mills Central
Some trains between Manchester Piccadilly and Sheffield via Romiley will be diverted via Stockport
Where needed, buses will supplement trains between Marple and New Mills Central / Chinley
Journey times will be extended by up to 20 minutes.

You can still do the fox descent, turning right before the bridge and climbing back up. To cross the railway you’ll have to go via Hague Bar or Green clough farm
From the Whitecroft Farm end it just looked like they’d put 2 orange barriers up which looked easily avoided. Is there something more in the way from the other side?
We came through from the canal – there were two groups of bikers in front of us who;d been turned back as they were working on it. Not sure what’s there in terms of security and whether you’d be able to get through while work was not happening
