    Newbie to this, when using an iPhone for recording training and progress does this use up your Data usage on your phone tariff? Cheers.

    yes if data is turned on (will try to do live updates)
    nope if data is turned off (it’ll sync when you turn it back on or connect via wifi)

    I don’t think Strava does unless you’re looking at maps. It certainly doesn’t NEED data in order to work until you get home and need to upload.

    Do you have a very limited data allowance? I wouldn’t worry about the amount of data it uses, personally.

    Ps flight mode on iPhones kills the GPS too. Which lead to me losing a whole Strava ride.

    I just keep data off all the time anyway, turn on WiFi when I get home and save/sync rides, I don’t tend to want map views up on rides anyway, I either know where I’m going, am happy to get a bit lost or take a paper one…
