Am I right in thinking it’s just a general car-free poodle round the city centre?

from what I can gather, yes

I did the Hillingdon (west of London) one last week and it was exactly a car free pootle around the area. It was actually quite nice to just ride around the streets without having to pay too much attention. A couple of fools seemed to think it was some kind of criterium, but generally the pace was pretty glacial.

It’s nice getting to ride down Deansgate without avoiding Bentleys and Range Rovers. Did it last year, it’s pretty decent.

Yeah, we’ll be riding over and pootling round. Hope I bump into Alexandra and her shiny legs.
