I have an ever so slightly loose front axle. Its either that the axle diameter is too small or the dropouts have worn/stretched. When I clamp up the QR super tight you can still feel the movement slightly.

Its seems to me that its only going to get worse?

    Anyone have any ideas recommendations???

Are you sure it's not wheel bearings starting to wear? If you're getting play when you hold the wheel then I'd have thought it's probably bearings so the wheel is moving slightly relative to the axle, rather than the axle moving in the dropouts.

    Hi,

Just a thought, but are you definitely sure that the play is axle/fork and it's not just the cones that need adjusting?

Yup that what my first thought but the bearings (cartridge) are smooth and have no play at all.

When the wheel is sitting loose in the fork you can feel play fore and aft, so the axle dosn't sit tight in the dropout.

I think half the problem is the fact the QR skewer is slightly loose inside the hollow axle itself, so there is no solid connection from wheel to fork!

    Are these things all connected???

I'm not sure what to do at all!

The hub is a DT swiss and the fork a reba race 29 btw.

    Cheers
