  • Looks agricultural, looks like a tractor – what do you actually mean?

I can only assume when likening bikes to tractors you aren’t comparing to something upto date?

for eg IIRC this came out in the late 1980’s?

What did bikes look like then?

for eg, heres IIRC this came out in 2008, if not earlier

Even in 2008, what did MTBs look like? On the whole, much less hydroforming/carbon etc etc?

There are words as well as pictures

The Fendt is a 60kmph production tractor, just that one above (shiny one) might be a computer model of a special edition in black
    in green:

Often on here (new) bikes for eg get described as agricultural or looking like a tractor. I’m a bit confused by it, I was hoping to find out where it comes from, what people mean when they describe stuff as such?

I think it means agricutural in appearance where by function is preferred to form.
Not pretty but effective unlike your thread which is pretty but ineffective.

I believe the phrase is shorthand for “could I knock one up out of sheet metal with a rock?” Orange 5 – yes, hydroformed fanciness – no.

I would not like to travel at 60Kph in a tractor, especially with 10ton of grass on the back! I once drove a John Deere with a 50kph gearbox and it was terrifying!

    Do they?….really??

    Yes they do

“would not like to travel at 60Kph in a tractor, especially with 10ton of grass on the back! I once drove a John Deere with a 50kph gearbox and it was terrifying! “
I’ve been in few at 65kmph with a 45ft trailer with straw on
I’ve driven tractors at 50kmph with 14-15T of maize on and it doesn’t feel terrifying. 50kmph doesn’t get long to get used to than 40kmph (40 over 30). Just as when you first learn to drive a car, 60mph can feel scary, but do it more and get used to it and it feels fine?

Trailers at speed are fine, it’s the big stuff hanging off the linkages that is interesting at speed, can get quite a wandering bounce on.

Valtras are booootiful tractors, you can even pick your colour.

    Are there ATGNI farmers then?

Do they have forum threads like “oh, a Valtra. Very nice for polishing and bringing along to the agricultural show, but if you’ve got 5,000 putrid sheep carcasses in a trailer to get moving you really want a John Deere”?

Had forgotten how old the 3000 series tractors are. When I was younger we had a 3070 and then a 3075. Now got a 200hp one similar to this:
