Apologies btw – kind of a stab in the dark really – and a bit serious – for us at least. Its not for me but my family.

After a few suicide attempts over the last few years we see (and she’s acknowledeged) the usual danger signs.

Her GP doesnt knwow her well and it seems to be “wait til she is in A+E again”.

So any real world recomendations welcome esp in Tayside / Perthshire. No response on here is necessary – my email is in my profile for anyone able to help/advise.

    Thanks.

Go to another GP. With something as serious sounding as this, you’ve got to push for proper treatment. I’d like to know why your current GP isn’t taking this seriously enough. If someone is at risk of harming themselves, then they clearly need treatment.

Thanks Elfin, unfortunatly the condition means shes terrified of talking to new doctors. Under duress – she;ll tolerate her sister being with her at a doc’s – but then all comes across as pretty “ok”.

Her GP has prescribed her the drugs she told him she had before – but they’ll take a while to kick in.

Really we need to change tack with her and she needs something more – thus my req for a recommendation for someone to “talk with”.

    Why not try here?

They may be able to help with advice on where to get services.

I can appreciate how difficult it is to get someone the treatment they need, and it can take quite a lot of pushing the local health services GPs to get anyone to listen. You’ve got to keep pushing though.

Thanks guys. Some things to look into.

I know all about pushing! A few years back this was replayed in A+E with stomach pumps and liver tests. Even uncounsious it was near impossible to get anyone to take things forward. NHS kind of said – there’s a pulse – thats our job done.

My brother has had help in the past various different crisis teams depending on where he was at the time. I’m not hot on UK geography but searched for a Perth team hopefully this will be of some help http://www.trfs.org.uk/absolutenm/templates/whowehelp.aspx?articleid=81&zoneid=5 . Good luck.

That may not have been the correct team reading a bit of their site they seem to be more learning difficulty focus but you should be able to find a contact details for the right team from this page http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/DisabledPeople/HealthAndSupport/MentalHealth/DG_10023332 though if you’ve contacted people above they maybe able to point you in the right direction.
