get 3 independent quotes. you will need that for an insurance claim anyway

    Cheers Sharki…
not a fitting problem – after floor was laid we had a man in to 'clean and seal' it – problem is that any water hitting the floor (eg mopping!) and the shine takes on a distinct and unfading cloudiness / milky look..
My thoughs – cleaners chemicals have buggered up the glaze?
Trying to work it out as, fair play, he's put a claim in with his insurers now, issue is none of us know what we're claiming for.. is it a job for somehow resealing them properly, or a refit job at circa £2k……

you have a floor cleaning expert?

LOL – had a man in to clean carpets etc after a round of building work so, yes, i'd refer to him as an expert….
    not any more though…..

Steve – Austin – the guy who laid the floor is coming round to proffer an opinion and cost…. Once we know what the issue is we can then follow it up in more detail.

Sounds like grout residue from them not being pre sealed prior to grouting, this pre-seal should them be removed, tiles normally don't need sealing as they're naturally waterproof.

What have they apparently been sealed and cleaned using?

Yeah the instaler should be the first point of contact as he should know the products he's used.

    Hi Sharki,
Not too sure about that – all was ok before they were cleaned and sealed – we'd moped a few times and all seemed fine, just decided to get them sealed as a precaution as it's the Kitchen / Diner – and red wine is a frequent visitor in that part of the house – twas more about sealing the grout really, than the tiles….
