Im going to report him to the police for several punishment passes, but I was so pissed at him I forgot what was written on his van :/
Basically, he was coming from Innerleithen along the B709 around 5.30pm today/Thursday.

After the first time, he was stopped further up the road talking to a guy at the biggish farm cottage on the left, so I decided not to say anything knowing he would still have to pass me again latter on after his chat and hoped it was just a one off.
So, I kept looking behind waiting for him to come, he eventually came into sight on the long straight in-between the hills, and thats where he decided to pass me even closer than before and at 60-70mph, so that is why I am desperate to see if people can keep an eye out or even know him!
The second time, if I had drifted max 3-4 inches to the right, he would’ve got me with a wing mirror to he back off the head and I would not be writing this.

The van did stand out a bit in the fact it was Silver, which I thought was very unusual for a Joiners van. I think it was around an ’07 because it had a square’ish front.
The guy was a Joiner and had his name on the back in black in quite big letters, I think (but cant be sure) it was Kenneth “surname” and there was writing on the sides too.
He also had a black dog (collie type) sitting beside him and he didn’t have any mirror/glass on the drivers side wing mirror.
I cant believe I got so angry I forgot everything!

My guess is that he was working at Inners or around that area and was heading home to Edinburgh or anything in-between, told you it was a long shot!

I considered going back to the cottage myself and asking for his details from whomever he was talking, but as its likely a mate, I doubt that would go well. Either that, or I plan my run tomorrow to be on that road and hope he pops up, hmmmm.

I know I am asking for a lot, but if anyone around that area can keep an eye out for him, I would be very very grateful.

go to the cottage, tell them you are looking for a joiner cos your converting a barn or something, and that you cycled past yesterday and noticed a joiners van outside, and you are wondering if you knew the joiner and if he was any good, blah blah blah. Sure you could blag his details under the pretense of offering work.

That did occur to me, but they both looked at me as I cycled past them. So I have a feeling he may have told his mate about the cyclist that just screamed at him after he overtook him!

Google Kenneth and joiner and Edinburgh, or innerleithen, or even Scotland and a few names crop up, might jog the memory.

Move out further into the road, so if there is something coming from the other way he’ll have to slow/stop and if there isn’t it means you’ve ‘swerve’ room.

Also there is a large minority of folk around here (I’m Melrose) who hate cyclists, even one of the local Bobbies I know was commenting after a cycling accident (the older chap that died before Xmas near Traquir – my ‘mate’ provided escort to the Royal) about how there was one less ‘problem’ now…

B r: that is a *****ing outrageous for a policeman to say. What a ****.

Cycling hate crimes are on the increase. People will die.

Next time a policeman dies, you should quote that back to him.

The thing that shocked me more was that he’s also a motorcyclists, so I kinda expected a bit of 2-wheel support.

Helmet cams are starting to look more like a necessity for road riding these days 🙁

Sad to say that there is quite a lot of cyclist hating on one of the motorbike forums that I frequent.

You could always chance your arm, drop into the cottage by car and say someone told you he could help you with a recommendation for a joiner in the local area…

IIRC, MCN ran a campaign against cyclists of some level.

Contact the police and give them the address of the house where you saw the van?

Project – are you not cycling a bit too close to those parked cars? If someone opened a door they’d have you!

MCN news hate everything and would like to be classified as one of the most persecuted races on the planet

Yeah, because of the anti-motorcycle campaigns from cycling groups.

Cyclists are very annoying it appears.
