Any pointers for city centre boozers that serve a decent real ale or 4?

It’s not in the centre, and Northampton’s not a city 😉

No probs, as per the “Beer” thread try the Bishop’s Farewell if it’s on, one of my faves.

Will give it a try. Both pubs mentioned look good.

3 Different Wetherspoons to choose from in the town centre if they float your boat…

You don’t have to far to get to an at least half decent village pub, but then you’d have to factor in the extra travel cos I assume you don’t want to drive!

Well, we found our way to The Malt Shovel!

Great recommendation, tried the Bishop’s Farewell, very nice, and a few others too. Lovely pub, great atmosphere, seemed to be the only place that had a decent amount of people in it.

    Cheers!

there used to be a good pub called The Perch in the town centre where i had my first taste of Sarah Hughes Old Ruby which was great but legs didn’t want to work after a few pints.
