  • Liquid dinner anyone?

    So, due to childcare responsibilities, I find I can’t get out on the bike until gone 7.30pm or so. As a result, even if I’m only out for 90 minutes or so, that still takes me to 9pm without anything to eat. Can anyone suggest a good recipe for a smoothie type drink that would cover most if not all of these bases;
    1) Tasty
    2) Healthy
    3) Easy to make
    4) Not too heavy on the stomach
I’m no whippet on the bike, so the dinner in a cup doesn’t have to act as a recovery drink…it just needs to fill me up sufficiently so that I don’t find myself drooling at the contents of the fridge at 2am in a Homer Simpson style.

Moons without sticks will not be accepted as valid suggestions.
    Cheers everyone!

I commute between 4 and 5, so that would probably prove tricky.

Slim fast you say? Lard say I!

Weetabix sounds like a go-er…bit bland, but could be made more interesting with the addition of honey.

    Keep ’em coming.

Banana and honey smoothie with some added wheat bran.

Blend ice, bananas, yoghurt, honey and wheat bran until smooth. Drink!

I’m lost? You have up until 7.30pm to have your tea, dinner is lunch, so that’s loads of time.

Drac, I don’t want to eat so close to riding the bike, that’s all.

As for dinner being lunch…I agree. Though my old English teacher would probably spin in his grave.

Thanks binners, I’ll take it under consideration.

As CP said, toast or bagel plus peanut butter. No blender to wash with that either.

Liquid tends to be un-fulling as you’ve already done 90% of the digestion for your stomach!

I usualy have an omlette or something else egg based, takes 3min to cook and only requires a frying pan, mug, and a plate. As long as the pan’s non stick I can cook, eat and wash up in 15min! Either that or get organised and cook Curry/chilli/spag bol and ecant ito containers, chuck em in the freezer then get 2 out each morning, one fro lunch and one for dinner to nuke in the microwave.

Then chuck some fruit in a jersey pocket to much on during the ride and stops me from getting home competely starving.
