Hardly ever use the landline for calls, the odd premium call if at all, but BT are charging us £19.49 a month for rental ona line that we use only for broadband. Should switch to (say) Post Office @ 15 a month? Only just been re-contracted with BT on 23rd Dec and have 14 days to opt out so now is surely the time. Never done this, wondering how you switch providers without losing the line?

Isn’t BT line rental £16.99 a month? Or £14 if you pay in advance?

Sorry, yes, looking at the new bill the £19.49 was the previous monthly charge. Am I alone in feeling that every item of shoddily printed verbiage that is a BT bill should come with a blood pressure warning? Argh. Be clear you obfuscating, detail-burying monopolists! On the bill there is no itemised charge given for the new line rental, only the combined total for line rental and our ‘unlimited evening and weekend plan’ which is £22.71 charged in advance.

    ‘Line rentalist’

This has to be the very apogee of underachievement in pursuits!
