    What’s good?

Heading over for a week in early April with the girlfriend and I’m wondering what we could do.

Paris-Roubaix is on while we’re there so would it be worth trying to find somewhere to watch them blast past then retire to a pub/bar/cafe?

A day trip to Bruges is happening.

Recommendations for cafes, restaurants, pubs/bars and any other misc touristy stuff would be much appreciated!

Lille art gallery and La Piscine in Roubaix are on our list of things to do.

It’s a relatively long way to Bruges if you are only over for a weekend – much better to save Bruges for a trip all of its own.

Not really stayed in Lille – we head straight over to Roubaix.
La Piscine in Roubaix is good – not for a whole day though – couple of hours tops.
Last year we went to the Ring of Memory which is not very far away either.

If you are going to watch the race – head to Arenberg or Carrefour – the two 5star cobbled sections – or drive out to one of the early stages & work your way back.

Also in Roubaix is a nascent re-emergent fashion industry with small studios set up by recent fashion graduates.
La Piscine is good, we’ll probably be in there late Friday afternoon before P-R.
There’s a lot of WW1 (and WW2) cemeteries and memorials in the area, for a moment of reflection.

was in Lille for the Kraftwerk gig in november, cracking place to walk around. loads of cool bars, restaurants, cake / coffee shops, old churches, art galleries and a little rock pub that does karaoke, Le Black Night rock cafe! just outside town is a cool little zoo with rhinos and apes, and a massive park to walk / bike around. Stayed at the Grand Hotel bellevue which is as central as you can get and arrived by eurostar. Was there for two days/nights but couldve defo stayed longer!
