Short stem – tick, slack head angle – tick. More enduro than the enemy, for the win!

Great stuff and a really interesting read. It certainly highlights the cultural dominance of the ‘white’ story: so many cultural and social narratives of this period are focused on white men on horses. It’s not surprising that the bicycle was seen as a poor substitute to the horse, and that African-Americans soldiers were chosen for the troop. So interesting to read how well they fared over difficult terrain, their speed, and the kit list.

It puts me worrying about whether my 3.5lb sleeping bag was a tad on the bulky side into perspective 🙂
