I know there has been zillions of threads about lights, from the likes of Troutie et all..

But I wanted to know if anyone would be willing to help out?

Ive a pair of old Lumicycle lights like these: http://www.lumicycle.com/product/104/sysliion2/halogen-2010-two-lamp-system.html That I’m loathe to get rid of..

Anyone out there willing to help me turn these into a decent set??

It can be done but it might not be worth the money? What power lamps do you have in them?

been thinking about this sort of thing as well. Have a set of cateye abs 25 lights that i was thinking could do with some improvement. No idea what lumen count they will be outputting, tried a search on line but didnt come up with much. Running 10w flood and 15w spot. Whats the best way to up upgrade / is it worth it? think they are (6v 3000mah batterys)

10w halogen is around 200 lumen. IIRC

The cutter kits are the easiset. MR16 is a direct replacement for the lumi lamps. A single xpg will be around 300 lumen. Triple xpe around 700, MCE around 900. again IIRC

You need the correct driver as well. each led has an operating volatage of around 3.7 v. so a triple will need 11 volt ish – but you can have a boost power source to get this from a 6 v battery

A single is 3.7 v so runs from either a 6 or 12 v battery with a buck power source

the mce is 4 leds in one unit.

epe gives the tightest beam and the greatest range of optics, xpg not far behind and a lot more light per bit of electic. MCE is hard to get a narrow beam

convert one of the cans only, use a triple xpg and you will get a bit more light than both your units at the moment with the option of a lower light level if you use the ub11 driver.

Needs some fidle faddle to get it to fit – you need a chunk of alloy in the can to get good heat transfer. I like the ub11 driver as it has the ability to turn the light down if it overheats and you can set it up how you want.

Itws not worth paying someone to do it. The kit is £60. It would take me a couple of hours to fit it. so by that time you could buy a whole new light from dx or spokesshirts or similar

You can probably get the components cheaper elsewhere on the net – the driver direct form taskled for example
