Any recommendations for something to carry around for occasional trail repair? Not one of those crappy £5-10, 3-piece ones which bend at the slightest provocation, e.g.

Try the glock (as in 9mm) folding shovel, bit pricey but worth the money.

You want the proper military spec version of the three piece folders rather than the cheapo crap copies.

I’ve had one for about 15 years, bought it from local surplus store, built all kinds of trails. still as solid as the day I bought it and it already looked well used then!

This is what you want – no NEED:

Hard to belive you can make an entertaining 8:50 video about a shovel! I dont own one btw.

I got a really good German one from a supplier on ebay based at Barton on Humber. I’ll send the link tomorrow if I can find it. It’s a tough design with a leather pouch. You just have to remember to take a coin out with you or similar thing for doing up the screw.

I got mine from a german army surplus place, funny enough it looks exactly like the cheap ones, except it works. No idea how you’d tell a good one from bad though.
