So here I am, after 3 weeks of not getting out, 2 of which due to this damn cold/flu/sinus infection thing, this has now subsided a little so I come to get the bike out of the shed to discover that the last ride's salty spray wasn't kind.
Gears not indexing well and rear brake pistons stuck.
Finally get the chance to have a look at it today, pads retract OK, I have some spares, all good so far. GT85, bit of rag, bit of wet and dry, all going nicely. fully bled and ready to go. new pads in. damn, brakes still rub. let a bit of fluid out to allow the pads to fully retract, nope, does nothing. I guess a full service is in order... damn it.
Check the shifting, nah not dropping to the last sprocket. shifting not the best anyhow, well the sealed cable's I've had for 10 months now, not bad going so I fit some new cables and hope for the best. Nope, nothing changed. Look a bit further into it, notice the rear mech looks a bit floppy, yep, bleedin thing has had it! The cage had separated from the main part of the mech.
now I remember, it's about 10 years old!
so, new seals and kit on their way from CRC and a search and request on the classifieds has me nearly got a replacement mech.
Eventually some possibility of getting out on the trails within the next week!
Anyone else having this much difficulty getting out? going a bit stir crazy, I think the wife want to kill me!
