So in the name of efficiency a boiler that is 10-15 years old needs replacing.

Shirley thats a ridiculously short lifespan for something thats quite expensive and involves a fiar amount of metalwork?

Only for efficiency sake – i.e. better products have been made. My other halfs boiler was replaced at 30 years and another friend of the family still runs an oil boiler thats 40 years old. Mechanically fine, just get a quick service. But horrendously inefficient.

Not all older boilers are inefficient. If your bills are still reasonable then forget changing it just for the sake of it,

My old boiler is 35 and I hope she keeps going for at least another 35 years 😉
