    What would be the expected life for the pawl springs on a Hope Pro2?

    My hub became gradually quieter until when I was pushing bigger gears or putting in bursts of power there would be a loud clunk. Removed the freehub today and 3 of 4 pawls springs had either fractured or disintegrated.

    The hub was new last October – seems a fairly short life span.

    Contact hope. ( or the shop you got it from) I would bet you get a new set. They did have issues with some of the springs.

    Lifespan = Random to variable

    I’ve had some break in a couple of months, others last years. Hop will replace then for free though. 🙂

    Phoned Hope and a new set is in the post. Cheers

    I’ll run the ratchet/pawls with thick gear oil instead of grease now I think. They were well greased but it was pretty cruddy.

    That’s exactly the same story as mine neninja.
    Original springs wore out in about 8 months. Quick call to Hope and new ones received next day.
    I also now use 90wt gearoil in the ratchet since. Seems fine.
