Haven’t read the book so didn’t know what to expect but the film in 3D was AMAZING!!!! Can anyone explain the ending as I couldn’t follow Pi’s explanation to the Japanese.
Really loved it though – effects were superb!!

I’ve read the book (which is fantastic), but not seen the film. I’d recommend reading the book then taking from the ending what you want.

    OP’s forum name seems apposite.
(Hope the film is more gripping than the book.)

Loved the book but struggling to see how they’ll tackle some of it on film without some pretty heavy narration.

Still want to see it though.

CGI heavy throughout according to the Radio 4 review I heard during the week. The book was tripe, full of overdone simile and metaphor.

…full of overdone simile and metaphor.

That is kind of the point of it, though.

I enjoyed the book, Kermode rated the film, Guardian hated it so my money is on Ang Lee doing a god job.

The ending in the book is what you want to make of it, IMO

Loved the book and thought it was wonderfully written. Would like to see the film over the holidays.

Agreed about the ending what you make of it.

Loved the book, went to see the film this morning with my 10 year old son… looked round at him thinking he’d be bored during the first 30 mins (his usual fare is superhero films) but he was absorbed. Later heard him laughing out loud at some of it, so was very glad to have taken him to something a little “deeper”.
I really enjoyed it too – after the opening sequence, even forgot I was wearing the dreaded 3d glasses too. Bit of dust in the eye at the end…
    Highly recommended.
Actually would love to see a “making of” now as the cgi stuff with the aminals is incredible.

No you’re right the ship sinks in the first reel.
Just realised the OP is promoting a film s/he stars in. Reported for spam! 😉
