As i enter Day 26 of my pain, i would like to share with you all my truly horrific experience in dealing with Leisure Lakes. It has now been 25 days since i ordered a not so exclusive bottle cage for my mtb from LL. I am still awaiting said item. Each time i have chased up this order with LL i have been informed that the item is on its way and will be with me shortly. It is not like i have ordered some obscure part that is being sourced from the Serengeti and they need to air lift it out of there ? All i can say is, avoid LL at all costs as i surely will in the future (even though they have offered me 20% off my next order)

20% off next order seems fair, make the most of it & order something expensive.

If their supplier keeps telling them it’s on it’s way and will be with them soon (which they often do) then they’re only passing on what they’ve been told. Is that their fault?

Good first post, sorry troll 🙄

I’ve always had pretty good experiences with them to be honest and found the guys in the Nottingham branch to be helpful.

Agree with Munrobiker…if their supplier is giving then dud info, they’ll just relay that info to you.

I’ve dealt with LL many times and so have friends, not had a problem myself, but a friend had to wait a month for his bike due to the fact it hadn’t been made in the USA yet and LL provided him one of thier top end demo bikes untill his arrived.

Is that the Nottingham branch that would more accurately be described as being in Derby?

FWIW I’ve had no problems with the service I’ve had from LL Bury.

not like i have ordered some obscure part

A bottle cage? They are likely having to order that from 1991.

Buy a Camelbak and move with the times.

I remember being in Leisure lakes watching the spotty, baseball capped, baggy-arsed jeans ‘staff’ try (unsuccessfully) to find some pretty basic parts.

All that was missing was the David Attenborough voice-over. It was like watching the baby Orangutans at Chester Zoo.

Having said that, if I’d ordered a bottle cage 25 days ago, I would have completely forgotten about it by now. And anyway… I thought everyone had at least 2 unused bottle cages in the corner of the shed?

one experience ordered a part online for store collection. I went to the shop to collect and yoof was like binners describes and utterly unsympathetic or helpful or in anyway capable of delivering any form of customer services or solution. I vowed never to use them again [ if that counts as using them]after driving 10 miles there for that experience.
I know someone who works for them who likes the company and speaks highly of them

I bought my mtb from the wolverhampton store and they were awesome. I’ve had a few teething problems with it since october and each time I rang them they said bring it straight in. when my caliper seal went they had it same day and because it was a warranty job they kept it for about 10 days. But they phoned me when the part came into store and said it would be ready in half hour or so. They get my money every time for their excellent customer service. They go beyond their duties. The staff are all xc and dh riders themselves so advice is good too.

Another plug for Wolves Leisure Lakes….. It’s my LBS and the lads there are great, always go above and beyond to sort out any problems you have. As stated above they’re all ‘proper’ bike riders so do know their stuff. Thus proving as usual good staff make the difference in any shop.

Another vote of confidence for LL Wolves. Couple of mates used to work there. Knowledgable, friendly and would do the little jobs other shops would book you in for, on the spot.

Hang on, you went into a bike shop and
    a) found out that they did not have bottle cages in stock and
    b) actually ordered one?

I can’t understand why LL haven’t rushed your order for a £6.99 piece of plastic through and air freighted such a valuable and important item right to your door. 🙄

Another thumbs up for the Wolverhampton branch – top people.

Not sure why but Cheltenham used be excellent but has become a bit indifferent over the last few years.

A bottle cage just doesn’t have the gnarr core to trouble themselves over at LL. 🙂

And another thumbs up for Leisure Lakes (Nottingham/Derby but probably closest to Long Eaton). I bought my troubled Whyte from there. Andy and Wayne tried to sort it out. My only issue (other than having to argue a little bit) was the poor fitting of a replacement brake. In the end, after the brake failed for the third time and the frame showing distinct signs of wear after what amounted to 1 weeks riding after the new frame, they took the bike back.

They have put up with me trying to decide on a new steed visiting almost weekly. Both Andy and Wayne have offered loads of sound advice and sorted out a number of demo rides before I settled on my Yeti SB66c. Andy sorted me a good deal and built the bike, even with one or two of my own components. Really have been top draw overall (I’ve put the brake issue down to a one off with a rushed mechanic).

I have nothing but praise for the Notts Leisure Lakes too. I have bought a Stumpy FSR & a Santa Cruz Chameleon from them & had no problems at all. Furthermore, they have provided me with three written quotations with a full break down of parts for my insurance policy & 2 of those bikes were from elsewhere.
