I tried using some cheap circlip pliers and ended up bending them lol.
Do you need to use the specific tool to remove the cap, assuming to have to do up fairy tight as I can’t get the bugger off?
Just wondered how often you would take the wheel off and if it merits
the £25+ on the tool of if there’s another way?

Would using more sturdy pliers work?

Depends which lefty end cap? Mine is a new lefty 2.0 and I use a cassette tool. Yes it’s reverse threaded!

Reading your post, you do know you don’t need to remove the cap to take the wheel off? Just unscrew the Allen bolt to remove the wheel. Just remember to take the brake caliper off first. The cap only needs to come off to service the bearings.

Oh and how tight when doing up the axle?…king tight as poss or thereabouts? No torque wrench just guess work.

15Nm.So not red face tight.More slightly stuck ketchup bottle top tight.Or strangling a medium size rabbit tight.

Don’t overtighten it as you’ll either strip the aluminium bolt that’s softer than soft cheese or pull the helicoil out
