Seems to be a common issue – just wondering if anyone on here has removed the bearing dust guard and/or o-ring as suggested by some?

I’ve removed the dust guard so far and it’s a massive improvement but the bearing is fully exposed now, albeit it’s a good quality sealed one.

Will it all ‘bed in’ over time anyway? Mine hasn’t changed in >200 miles.

Will removing them cause any problems other than shortening life of bearings?

I’ve not noticed it on any of my Leftys.

If I spin the wheel it just comes to a stop really quickly. I found quite a few threads on mtbr.com about it but guess they don’t all have to contend with mud and rain…

Have you taken the cap off the outside and checked there is some grease on that side as it can drag there too. One of mine does it a bit, periodically gets dry and squeaks too, re-lube and back to normal, none of the other 3 do it though.

Not yet as don’t have the right tool to get it off – will do though.
