Feels totally normal when you’re on it. But yes it does look big from the side view.

I rode a friends version of that and it felt incredible.

Which Geometron did you go for?

Is a 2016 with a longer rear end and longer shock to take the travel up to 170.

Looking better with some mud on it.
Dropped the bars a bit, speeded up the LSR on the shock and rebound on the fork.
The 36 is just so much better in every way to the Pike on my other bikes.

Yep it’s a Longest. (large)
Tyre clearance is fine.
It’s closeish to the sidewall of the tyre but shed loads of room where the tread is.

About the same length as your tandem?

I don’t have a clue how that could ever be called “surprisingly nimble” by that guys mate.. was that “surprisingly nimble for a whale” I could literally fit 7 bananas end to end between that wheelbase.

I bet it’s amazing on a lot of things but when it gets tight it must be an ask to get it threading through the trees on the steeps. I threw my leg over a 29er version the other weekend but haven’t ridden one in anger… interested to try but can’t see how the geometry of the likes of a capra is out enough for this.

I put it on the rack on the rear of my car along with Mrs stu’s large Tallboy.
The wheelbase may be longer on the Geometron but the outer edges of the wheels didn’t stick out any further than the outer edges of the Tallboys wheels.

I’m not really expecting any massive difficulty with it in tight stuff.
But I will go and buy some bananas and see how many fit between the wheels. 😆

They are interesting things indeed, I haven’t seen any ridden in anger yet though which would be nice to see.

Reach can be measured in Cantaloupe or if you’re a imperial kinda guy Honeydew but as most people normally have a few canta’s kicking around probably best sticking to metric.

No. I just think 29er wheels stick out a lot further from the contact patch to outer edge than 650B wheels do. 😀

It was a bit of an arse getting it on the FoD uplift trailer as it’d only fit in two of the slots.
Mind you the guy said they had someone turn up on a Pole and it wouldn’t go on at all.

True true – I’ve literally just watched the Pole review! it seems to hold the shape of the size better probably to do with the low stand over height. Seems mental that the Pole is only 140mm for such a big bike!

Have fun on it anyway – sure it’ll be a blast getting used to it and then letting rip
