  • Laying bamboo flooring on half concrete half floorboards – which underlay?

Dining room floor is floorboards and kitchen is concrete but i’ve read conflicting stories about underlay with a damp proof course.

I know it’s needed for concrete but some say it’s fine for both, others that it shouldn’t be used for floorboards?

    What do the experts think?

I know i could get 2 lots but i’m struggling to find a non dpc in 3mm for a good price, with dpc is 59p sq metre

Just bung it over the lot, then you’ll know you’re safe whatever.

I don’t think possibly having the floor joints in the dining room rotting as no moisture can escape is really a “safe whatever” option?

I hope your wooden floor, if downstairs, is ventilated from beneath. There should be airbricks in the walls to allow such ventilation.

Provided this is the case I can’t see moisture being a problem, most underlay isn’t hugely breathable.

Sorry, I know I asked this before, but are you floating it?
