Meeting at shoppe at 6 for a dinner of Torq gels and Clif washed down with Menergy drinks.

Looking outside i dont think we need lights til 203o so it will be simply lovely.

Might be tempted if I'm not fitting forks to a friends bike and/or going out on Thurs night. I'll meet you at the wee shop in Bonaly if I make it. I'm guessing it'll be about 7 before you get there.

    Hello

I might be able to make it and would meet at the wee shop at 7pm if that's OK.

    Cheers

I thought i'd given myself tendonitis in my wrist (didn't mention before for fear of laboured 'wrist' jokes 😕 ) but my paramedic flatmate reckons it isn't tendonitis as it had obviously swollen, which tendonitis doesn't usually do.

which means i managed to somehow sprain/fracture it in my sleep, ooer!

    (oops, dammit!)

    Hello

Is this open to anyone? Which shop do you meet at? I finish work around 5pm out near Gyle Centre and can cycle to Currie fairly quickly. Is that anywhere near your route?

    Cheers

The wee shop is on the hill up to the Scout camp at Bonaly and some of us meet there. The others will be coming up the WOL to Colinton from TheBikeChain?

bawbag I'll answer as I don't know if TBC is still on line –

Anyone is welcome – its a social ride not a training ride.

we / they tend to meet at "the bike chain" at cannonmills – the OPs bike shop – and then ride out to the pentlands.

The wee shop RRD mentions is the small grocers at bonally – if you know it.

Folk would tend to ride out from TBC along the water of leith to bonally and climb into he hills from there – but not always – can arrange to meet at any obvious point en route. ie the water of leith visitor centre or at murrayfield somewhere or at bonally.

I can give you directions / grid references or whatever to a meet point.
Edit – a bit slow – story of my life 🙂

Think I'll head along to Bonaly and meet up there. What time and what street is the shop on?

    Hi Bawbag

The shop is on Bonaly Road, just where it levels off before the flyover.

    It is just general store.

Hope that helps. We will be there about 7pm – we will wait as long as you will wait.

I'm doing my own thing tonight as I want to get in the door before 9pm for sensible dinner and bed options!

My route is planned (fitness depending) to be Maiden's – Green Clough – Hare Hill – Maiden's – Harbor Hill (?) – Puke Hill and if I have time, Poet's Glen. Maybe see you guys somewhere out there!

sorry, I would have been at Bonaly for 6pm so don't think I'll find much to do for an hour. May be there but don't wait for me.

Anyone got a gpx of the route? Need to explore the Pentlands at some point.

    Cheers

bawbag, I *should* be passing by that shop about 6pm, if you want to join me instead. I'm not particularly fit so pace will be fairly easy, and I have my camera so likely a few photo stops too!

Sorry I couldn't hear what you were saying to me about your light…

Its a £50 "bastid" (aka Magicshine). Bright, good run time, etc etc but its tempremental.

Good range of cheap options here inc Magicshine with links:

Nice wee turn guys, thanks indeed, & great to have it so dry… Hopefully young Jim made it down ok; parted ways at Phantoms after hearing strange blood-curdling animal sounds from Bonaly reservoir…
Anyway, here's a pic or 2 (to remember him by) –

Were you the group stopped at the top of Beech Avenue when we passed you? I was on a white hardtail, my friend was wearing a white top on a black hardtail.

Great night to be out, trails were really nice and weather was perfect.

Well cheers to bawbag for accompanying me tonight, although I'm sure he got fed up of my wheezing (not as fit as I thought!) up the hills. Maiden's Cleugh is a total mess at the top, likewise parts of Black Hill are in a bad state, as is the start of Green Cleugh just after the house at the head of Loganlea. Grumble over, mostly dry on the regular trails, but I suspect a lot of stuff is still pretty wet.

What route did you guys do?
