Have been delegated the task of buying new trainers for a teenage nephew – will be looking for functional running shoe style rather than anything fashion based.

Would rather limit the experience to just one store – any recommendations?

No Decathlon in central London, and I’m no way going to Surrey Quays or Wandsworth – will probably just trundle up and down Oxford Street, seem to be a good few there

Ah, Lilywhites, that’s the one I was trying to remember 😀

Do bear in mind that Lillywhites is in fact just a big Sports Direct. Not in its self a bad thing but worth remembering.

Lilywhites is just a Sports Direct so not quite the same as it once was.

    EDIT: Too slow

Believe it or not many of the quite complex moulds for those expensive leisure trainers are made by a very skilled mould-maker in Burnley and sent out to China.

The same bloke imports the die-cast metal bits for sporrans and skean-dubhs and so on from China for a few pennies each and sells them to a kilt maker in Leeds who flogs them for hundreds of dollars to homesick Scots in America.

    I’m in the wrong job.

Runner’s Need. Conveniently positioned in branches of Cycle Surgery, so you can look at bike stuff as well!

Runners Need seems to be getting the verdict – and my aversion to Surrey Quays is cultural not logistic 😉
