Where’s worth perusing for a good price for a new machine with an upto date spec?

Just want to make sure I’m checking out everywhere.. cause PC world seems to have some good prices (if I want to travel & collect in store) and Dell seems about the best price otherwise
    Off-hand checking scan/dabs/ebuyer/pc world/dell

Me too possibly. My mac book’s usb ports don’t work . Resets don’t work so a repair could be expensive. What would be a good ,cheap laptop to use just for iTunes? I’ve got 90 gb of music.

Dell Outlet would always be my starting point if I knew what spec I wanted.

sorry yep, checking there too but cheers for the post. Got to clarify with my friend if she will go for a refurbished unit (it’s her choice after all)

for my wanted spec, i found that Dell offered the best value. It hasn’t skipped a beat and i’m very happy.

I’ve been impressed with Razer (http://www.razerzone.com/gaming-systems/razer-blade-stealth). They’re designed with gamers in mind, but the stealth version looks like a very good (and versatile) ultrabook.

TBH I’ve always recommended checking out Dell offering 1st, and then comparing others to them.. just haven’t bought anything in a long while, so want to make sure I’ve checked all the right places

I’ve not had a laptop from the Outlet that I could ever tell was anything other than brand new – I’ve bought 3 over the last 16 years.

..yeah I know, but I have to give her the choice, ppl are weird, and can be really weird about “used” (even if just unboxed) kit… it’s not just a girl thing either, boys can be just as bad

Work have given me a Dell Precision.
It’s a bit big but my lad reckons it’s ace.
He tells me he wants to put Minecraft on it.

spudly1979, initally I thought, that not such a bargain when you add options. Though if you choose a lower spec machine and “up spec” it, that seem pretty damned good.
Online reviews seem pretty happy too, the main complaint is seemingly the chassis (body) isn’t as flashy as the competition.

I’m assuming they use a generic chassis from the likes of clevo, one of which my brother bought a laptop ago, and it was a solid spec for the money but over time (he kept it a good few years) it did fall to bits. That’s not to say it wasn’t good value, and he’s unusual as he travels with it constantly (if you using it as a desktop replacement, just at home, it would probably last a lot better), just worth bearing that in mind.
