My AVG antivirus picked up some trojans on the scan and says it healed them and put them in them virus vault. Is that them done and dusted? At the moment the laptop is in a strange font and background colours. Also when I boot up I get a generec win 32 message to say there is a problem and it needs to close, but it doesn’t. Lastly when i search the web i get diverted briefly to some sort of search site before redirecting to the origianl searc result.

    Am I doomed?

Try downloading and running malwarebytes. There are several older threads on it.

Start up in safe mode then rescan with AVG & Malwarebytes.
Most decent trojans / viruses these days can’t be removed without being in safe mode due to effectively backing them selves up in certain places such as the windows restore point areas.

Might want to clear the old restore points too if you have any before making the cans in safe mode.

Once everything is clean, turn restore back on.

    +1 for malwarebytes.

If you tell me what it’s found I can probably give more specific instructions.
