I have recently been looking for something similar but in messenger bag form. Look at brands like Timbuk2, Tenba, Lowepro, Tamrac and crumpler.

I bought a bag from Evans, online, half price…45. It’s a messenger but as they have a sale on check out their back pack range.

EDIT: Apologies, just noticed your budget. I’d still recommend the Deuter though.

How big is your, err, machine? And what else do you want to carry?

I’ve just had this conundrum thanks to starting to cycle to work, and went for a Deuter Trans Alpine 30.

    http://www.deutergb.co.uk/bike/trans-alpine-30/

Accommodates my 12incher Thinkpad X230, iPad, all the cables etc, shoes, a full set of dressy ‘business casual’ clothes, wash gear, and lunch. I reckon it’d cope with a 15in laptop fine as long as it wasn’t a desktop replacement. Has loads of pockets in sensible places, good rain cover, reflective, and generally really well thought out design.

Currently on sale in more subtle black from CRC:

Thanks for all the info guys. Liking the deuter Ben!

Laptop is 14″, but don’t need to carry to much in addition.

My birthday wish list is growing!

Just a little over budget, won mine but it’s great, goes up to a 17″ laptop, all cables. I’ve done a 4 day business trip out of it with a suit bag. Pockets for everything and comfy to carry.

Not sure how much they cost but I’ve had an Ogio for years, I’m happy with it.

Cool ideas gang. Any thougts on this Oakley? http://www.wiggle.co.uk/oakley-factory-pilot-xl-rucksack/ perhaps too cheap and likely to break within months?

P.s. Not looking to commute with this so doesn’t have to be bike specific.

Osprey flapjack, end of thread. Use it as my everyday bag and have done for 5 years, also ridden many many hundreds of miles with it!

Miltec molle. I carry laptop, tools, and cables in mine for work. Good bit of kit and robust.
