She is complete pish! Bland, boring and devoid of any soul.

As for the marketing? A friend of mine described it as…..

‘getting this really pathetic, desperate/passive jumble of nothing actively thrown in your face.’

    Sounds about right!

As DezB posted earlier her earlier stuff is better as she doesn’t try and put on a weird voice and sings more naturally. No idea if you can buy it but search on your favourite p2p site for Lizzy Grant.

Possibly the over exposure, but I find it a bit bland and too much of an ‘interpretation’ of Hope and friends.

Best of this type of thing I know of is still The trinity Session by a country mile.

I think she can sing well but she was bored and self-indulgent when she did SNL.

That SNL sounded pretty terrible, the Joolz Holland ones were much better, especially the one shown on the friday night.

Didn’t know Cowboy Junkies where still going.

Just listened to SNL and now want to hit her in the face with a frying pan.
At least that might provide some enjoyable sound.

i got round to watching the SNL clip and have to say it wasn’t as bad as i expected from all the comments about it. at least she was actually signing not miming. just sounded like a half-decent singer doing a live variation of a song, to me. 😕

so BJ, if you ask her a stupid question such as, “Do you think I was born?”, she’d answer, “yes, to die”. 🙂

    This slightly confuses me.
I’m pretty sure no one’s accused her of coming over here stealing all our benefits and eating the Queens’s swans.

Doesn’t confuse me. It’s people who know nothing, thinking they know something.
Music appreciation is just opinion anyway, so it don’t matter what anyone else finks, do it.

Weird, thing about Lana Del Rey, is she is quite MOR, quite ordinary, and yet provokes such a marmite reaction everywhere. Normally that kind of reaction is reserved for something great (eg. punk).

Maybe it’s just the “Internet Age” – opinions are so easy to express so no-one holds back…

I like discussing it anyway.. it’s .. interesting.

    It doesn’t confuse me either – she’s rubbish. 😉
