  • Laminate Flooring – Cork Expansion Strips?

Just laid some laminate flooring. I’ve got a 10mm expansion gap all round the room. The gap will be covered by the skirting boards and thresholds.

Should I fill the expansion gap with cork strips? I’m getting mixed advice so far. Some
Say yes do fill it. Others say no the cork will prevent the natural expansion of the floor.

    What do you think?

No need for cork in the expansions gaps with laminate flooring, it was generally used to fill gaps that were visible.

That’s what I thought. And it saves me £7. Cheers!

We just use some blobs of clear silicone at about 1.0m spacing around the perimeter to stop the whole floor creeping with expansion / contraction.
