6-8 gentlemen on bikes and I need somewhere central in the Lakes that can accommodate us if anyone has suggestions. There seem to be a few places which are general but looking for mtb friendly preferably with lock up and hose type facilities.

Any suggestions useful, fling me names of places and I’ll head off and google away.

Great Langdale Bunkhouse. Simple, cheap, owned by riders, next door to two pubs, 30 min ride to the foot of Helvellyn, secure bike storage, and amazing riding. Highly recommended.

I reckon great but probably 8 blokes in bunk beds in the same room will not work. We’re old and like a bit of luxury 🙂

If not Greenside, Patterdale YHA.

How long you going for? if you don’t fancy a B&B or YHA you might be better letting a holiday cottage with that many of you..

Otherwise there’s loads of accommodation in Keswick with access to Patterdale along the Coach Rd or if you don’t mind a carry, up & over one of the passes like Sticks..

A cheap option is a camping barn, something like Stybeck Farm-

There’s a lot more going on in Keswick than Patterdale for 6-8 blokes though, all depends on what you want..

10 of us hired a house out in Chapel Stile in Great Langdale a few years ago.
Worked out pretty cheap with proper beds…

Cottages

Didn’t have bike-specific facilities but had a garage and was 30 secs walk from Wainwrights pub.

Patterdale YH is excellent – bunks but spacious and not your usual bunks…and it had the world’s besteet EVER drying room 😉
