Hi all just after a recommendation for a cheap b and b near hevelynne ( spelling) I need a get away for afew days from work etc and fancied a trip to the lake district. Is it a bad time to visit there or will I be alright? Not particularly bothered by rain. Anyone been up the mountain on there bike?

    Yep, up and down it.
If you can avoid school hols then take a look at Keswick, Glenridding or Ambleside for a start.
In terms of weather it could be sunny t shirt weather, snowing, raining, windy or a mix of all that. If the weather is bad then the high mountains are unpleasant and potentially dangerous. Lots of routes around there though.

Been up Helvellyn in Feb before and it was OK – however I suggested it to my Cumbrian mate for a ride next weekend and he reckons it’s looking too snowy on top at the moment.

So we’re likely to stick to some lower trails instead.

There will be too much snow on the top: http://www.lakedistrictweatherline.co.uk/gallery

Think the snowline is around 600m so lower down you’ll be fine.
