IM thinking of having a weekend up in the lakes, I have never ridden there, so any one got any advice on rides, I am in my comfort zone for about 30 miles,

Is that 30 lake district miles?

Which end? Quite important at the minute, as its a right old diversion between Keswick and Ambleside/Grasmere with the A591 being broke.

30 miles in the lakes is quite far, depending on where you go with the steep inclines and so on.

Depends on what you’re used too.

prob not 30 lake district miles tbh, was looking at the south end as Im near to Manchester, but not that fussy really, was hoping to make a weekend of it when the weather warms up a bit

Everywhere below 1000ft is pretty much clear now.

A591 passable by bike (via the top of Helvellyn) 😉

The Parkamoor ride is great. Plenty of other routes in the area to make a weekend.

So all the really fun bits are covered in snow then?

Stay in Keswick (best choice of accomodation and eating imo) do the borrowdale bash on your first day, via cheeky Walla Crag (fp through the woods to the castlerigg campsites then just follow the footpath to Walla Crag, the drop to ashness bridge is far better than just going along the road, dam silly footpath rules). Then go and do Whinlatter in the pm.
2nd day, do Lonscale fell (bridge might be out still on the old railway) and/or skiddaw and cheeky Ullock pike, then go and do Whinlatter again if there’s time.

If you go to keswick dont do the bash* and then a trail centre – in fact done go tot he lakes and do a trail centre – the bridleways from Grizedale are a notable exception

As noted on here going to the lakes and riding a trail centre is like going into a brothel for a kiss.

If you are staying South then my advice is

Something around Kentmere/Staveley to get a post ride nosh upa t awilfs – Anan bield/High Street/Garburn

Something around Grizedale

Something massively high like say Helvellyn

* Decent ride but better options are available and half of the bash is not worth doing IMHO

If South Lakes, then anything around Garburn/Kentmere/Harter Fell/Nan Bield
or Ambleside, Loughrig, Coffin Trail, Elterwater,Hodge Close, Iron Keld type stuff.
If North Lakes, then go big: Skidaw/Ullock & Blencathra,
or Whiteless Pike/Buttermere/Rigg Beck,
or Catbells/High Spy/Dale Head/Hindscarth/Scope End

I like doing whinlatter as well as the natural stuff, sometimes you just feel like following arrows around built technical features, espicially if you go at it hard on the natural ride earlier in the day. Easy to navigate, easy parking and comes with cafe. If it is bucketing it down the loops are not as exposed as the natural stuff in the area and you can easily bale if the weather turns horrific. Plus the views from both loops are stunning. Each to their own.

Grizedale/Parkamoor combination is quite good.
